Nasi kukus

Location: Mutiara Damansara

Makan apaw! Nasi kukus, that's what!

Delicious, well fried, fried chicken, chunks of pineapple,
some sambal and lashing of pajeri nenas.
The pajeri is not too spicy (hot) nor is it too spice laden.

The address! And a bit of leg...chicken leg!

Fried siakap with garlic sauce

Another suggestion what to eat. Lunch or dinner, works for either meal time!

Siakap fried with garlic bits. Score the fish to make
it even more crispier! Plus it's easier to eat that way.

The dipping sauce! More garlic!
Garlic, lime juice, green chillies and nampla (fish sauce).

NASI KANDAR IBRAMSHA

Nasi kandar Ibramsha
Location: 68, Jalan Tunku Abdul Rahman

These pictures were taken 2 years ago but I've been there
(and before these pictures were taken) so many times,
I've lost count! Yes, there's Pelita, there's Kudu,
Line Clear and  the list goes on but I still prefer NASI KANDAR
HAJI IBRAMSHA! It never fails to please! It's always
delicious, delicious, delicious and delicious! Hehehe!

They have the usual blend of curries, just tell them, kuah campur!
Believe me, they know what's best! Just let them do it for you.
Then there's the crunchy cabbages fried with some turmeric,
and of course the fried chicken or chicken cooked in soy sauce with spices.
You could always add some telur dadar (omelette), green chillies,
papadum and you're set!
Don't forget teh o ais limau kurang manis!
(ice lemon tea, not too sweet)
Best combo ever!

Smile! Dishing out that yummy nasi kandar!
The rice pots are placed in a big rattan 'basket' used to kandar
(carry) the rice. And that little container to your right is sambal belacaan.
See that stack of plates? It will be gone just like that! Snap!

One or rather a few for the road!

Keropok lekor

Feel like a snack? Something crispy, crunchy, a bit salty and goes well with chilli sauce?
Keropok lekor. Best eaten hot but just as good at room temperature! You can choose to have the wafer thin sliced keropok lekor or the puffy ones, that's chewy on the inside.

Breakfast ideas! Breakfast, breakfast! What to eat for breakfast?

Breakfast, breakfast! What to eat for breakfast?

Quite a plateful here. Toasts, crispy turkey ham, instant mashed potatoes,
scrambled eggs (a bit dry, don't like it too runny) and baked beans!
Polish it off with a nice mug of warm tea!

Miss Ellie Tea House

Tea at Miss Ellie

Location: 7, Jln H3, Taman Melawati, KL

Miss Ellie Tea House was such a lovely, cosy tea house.
The deco was beautiful! All the teapots, books in various parts
of the place!
Even the mats were really cute!

The food! We had potted chicken, scones with jam and cream.
Didn't get to taste the cakes, but they looked yummy and
that means we MUST come again!

Outside the tea house. Umbrellas and a lovely signboard
 that welcomes you warmly.
The crockery were simple but classy. White works the best!

I must say something about the tea!
We ordered Asam blend and it was excellent!!!
As we poured the tea (piping hot), the fragrant tea really attacked
the senses! Feels like you're really drinking tea not
just  tasteless, lukewarm liquid that resembles the colour of tea.
 Gonna go again!

The menu.  Its' condition is an indicator
 how popular the place is!

Ayam penyet panggang!

Ayam penyet panggang!

Recipe: YouTube

Hari Malaysia, so we decided to try making our own
ayam penyet bakar!

Lots of smoke...

Nice charred bits!

The sambal bit. My sister added capsicum so that
it wasn't too spicy and poor me
can eat it.

And the end product! Multi grain rice,
ayam penyet panggang and the sambal.
No time to make the tauhu and tempe!

Aglio Olio

Aglio Olio

Simple yet satisfying. A meatless meal with good old olive oil,
capsicum and crushed Korean seaweed from the box.
And of course TONNES of garlic!

Gelato

Gelato from Daily Fresh Cafe

Gelato Tempo from Daily Fresh Cafe. Not too sweet, cold and creamy!
Really on a hot day or
after eating something spicy!

Teatime treats - bubur pulut hitam and apam gula hangus

Teatime treats!

Here's some ideas for tea or if you just feel like having something sweet!

Bubur pulut hitam (black glutinous rice)

Apam gula hangus eaten with grated coconut

Ayam Penyet

D'laman restaurant - Ayam penyet

Feel like having some ayam penyet? Just head to D'laman Restaurant. It's opened 24 hours a day and located right next to Gombak Police Station! You can either have ayam penyet panggang (chicken is hammered (literally) and mixed with a sweet and HOT soy sauce mix OR just ask for ayam penyet goreng (minus the soy sauce), which is just as good, Or you can try the various fish offered here or the bakso.

Nasi Padang

Nasi Padang - Grand Garuda Baru Restaurant

Location: Jln Raja Alang, Kg Baru

Here we are! Restoran Grand Garuda Baru.
Lots of parking space

Some dishes we ordered, clockwise: Gulai ayam (chicken gravy),
rendang ayam hitam (a bit spicy),
pucuk ubi masak lemak  (tapioca shoots cooked in coconut gravy),
gulai nangka (jackfruit gravy),
sambal merah and hijau (not spicy),
dendeng daging kering (dried strips of beef,
crispy not tough like jerky)
and fried chicken with extra crispy bits.
The leafy thing is  tapai (fermented glutinous rice)

ABOVE: Close-up of the fried chicken and gulai ayam.
BELOW: sambal hijau and merah

Ample places to sit. Nice long tables to eat with friends and office colleagues

The tapau rice, it was really a rectangular in shape.
Not the usual cone-like or square.

The food was good and delicious! Not as spicy as I thought it would be :)
Though it's a bit pricey.....

Qasar Saba - Yemeni, Arabic Cuisine

Qasar Saba - Nasi Arab and etc

Menu

Chicken Madghout - The taste of spice is much stronger compared to
mandy rice and the potion is really BIG!
Two people can eat this easy! It kinda reminds me of
nasi tomato. Kinda, a little, not so.

Mandy chicken (quarter) - This portion was just nice for me.
Just like the Haneeth, it comes with two sides,
a dalca-like gravy and tomato gravy.

Mixed grill

Swish Tawooq sandwich

Mullawah (large)

Scones, with eggs and no eggs!

Late night baking; scones!

My sister just, just made these scones. They may not look perfect
but they taste yummy! Just break it into half,
slather a generous amount of butter/jam and chomp away! :)

Yee mee

Vegetarian yee mee

Sometimes meatless meals can be nice. We made this for dinner last night. Yee mee with tonnes of veggies and mushrooms! The bird's eye chillies are home grown!

Tapau lunch

Lunch from home

Mee sua with chicken cooked with soy and oyster sauce. Just blanch the mee sua and you can replace the soy sauce chicken breasts with either store bought chicken (Ayam Mas black pepper chicken is good), or fried chicken from yesterday's dinner or just any leftovers. You can even eat the noodles with plain old nuggets. Anything that works for you! Tapau food from home, bring bekal to work, you can really save!

Porridge

Porridge

Congee, porridge! Chicken, fish or just plain rice porridge. Good to eat at any time and not necessarily when you're under the weather. Just add the usual condiments, fried anchovies, fresh ginger, salted veggies, coriander, fried garlic bits, white pepper, salted eggs, salted fish, chilli flakes or even kimchi! Whatever works for you!

Pastryville

Pastryville

Location: Wangsa Walk Mall

Looks warm and cosy!

Some samples

Cream cheese almond flakes and Custard strawberry

From left to right: Double cheese parmesan, choc almond donut,
plain croissant and choc pillow!

First time I'm here and I'm glad I decided to go in! Delicious, not too sweet and interesting selection! The croissant especially was really buttery.

Tauhu and rojak

Tauhu and rojak buah

Location: TTDI, near Jaipur Curry House and KFC

They operate from a truck and are usually around TTDI. The sauce is just nice,
not too sweet. The tauhu is very crispy, just the right amount of bean sprouts,
cucumber and they are very fast! Just tell them what you want and voila,
it's ready! :)
