Spaghetti

Spaghetti with mushrooms and minced chicken sauce.

Makan apaw! Spaghetti! Tastes even better with button
or shredded oyster mushrooms and of course,
CHEESE!

Eat your veggies! Bayam goreng

Fried spinach with dried chillies

Makan apaw! Fried spinach that's what! Bayam goreng
or fried spinach. Chopped spinach with a handful of dried chillies.
Crunchy and sweet, goes well with rice, capati!
Or as a side dish with instant noodles!

Nasi Lemak

Nasi Lemak

Makan apaw! Nasi lemak an all time favourite! You can have it
nice and warm or eaten cold! It's good for breakfast, lunch,
brunch or dinner! Any time, any where!

The picture above is home cooked  nasi lemak, clockwise,
kangkung, fried anchovies, sambal tumis, boiled eggs,
bamboo shoot & cucumbers.

The rice is important but what sets each
nasi lemak different from the other is the sambal tumis!
There's sambal tumis ikan bilis (anchovies), sambal tumis
sotong (squid), sambal tumis telur (eggs),
sambal tumis kosong (plain).

For nasi lemak bought outside, I found two places
that has good sambal. The  nasi lemak stand at LRT Melati
and the stall at ss 21, in front of the bus stop and York
air cond.

SOTO

Soto Ayam!

Makan apaw! Mi Soto or soto noodles.
Yellow noodles, shredded chicken, green onions,
fried onions and the cili padi kicap sambal!
(pounded bird's eye chili fried until fragrant
and mixed with some soy sauce)
Put it all in a bowl, pour in the boiling soup
and bon appetit!

And of course an integral part of soto
is pegedel or cutlet. There's potato pegedel, chicken
pegedel, fish pegedel. Pegedel are thinly sliced
potatoes fried slightly, pounded and mixed with
green onions, fried shallots, fish or chicken if preferred,
then dipped in frothy egg white and fried.

AYAM! AYAM! Chicken! Chicken!

Ayam oh ayam! Chicken time!

Makan apaw! Fried chicken, plain old ayam goreng (fried chicken).
Best eaten with just about everything!

Rendang ayam aka chicken rendang. Best eaten with
ketupat (rice packed in pouch made woven palm leaves
or plastic pouch) or pulut (glutinous rice)!
Or with nasi lemak
(rice cooked with cococnut milk) or
with mee hoon ( fried vermicelli) or on its own!

Curry with vegetarian chicken and potatoes

Makan apaw! Yummy curry with vegetarian chicken and potatoes.

You can have it with warm baguette or rice!

Mango chutney! It goes so well with curry!

Prawns, prawns, glorious prawns!

Have some prawns and not sure what to do with it? Or just feel like eating prawns?

Garlic prawns! Massive overdose of allium sativum or commonly
as GARLIC! Serve immediately with hot rice, brown or white!

BBQ prawns

Fried siakap with garlic sauce

Another suggestion what to eat. Lunch or dinner, works for either meal time!

Siakap fried with garlic bits. Score the fish to make
it even more crispier! Plus it's easier to eat that way.

The dipping sauce! More garlic!
Garlic, lime juice, green chillies and nampla (fish sauce).
